Despite the high alkaline content, Lake Natron is known for being a breeding ground for over 75% of the World's flamingo population. The town of Monduli is also known for its memorable Monduli Mountains and the famous volcano Ol Doinyo Lengai, which is Maasai for "Mountain of God".
